Crowns and Bridges

What are Crowns and Bridges?

Traditionally dental crowns were made with a metal foundation, but today with the latest technology, they can now also be made completely out of porcelain or ceramic.

Used primarily when a tooth is suffering from severe decay, they may be used as a suitable treatment option for any of the following:

Severely broken down teeth - as a result from an extended period of decay and the use of ever increasing larger fillings.

Cracked and weakened teeth - over time the tooth has been damaged or worn down.

Unsightly or badly damaged teeth - where the tooth has become misshapen.

How we can help repair your damaged teeth?

With precision fit CAD CAM technology and suitable for all areas of the mouth, all-ceramic crowns and bridges provide a metal-free option which provide unrivalled performance. With superior strength and aesthetics, long- lasting and beautifully natural looking restorations can be achieved.

This gentleman had crooked and broken teeth. He had a very decayed tooth on the right side which we had to remove. We used a combination of ceramic crowns and a bridge on the right side of his mouth to give him a new smile to be proud of. His family and friends were amazed by the result.

Case Two

After All Ceramic Crowns

The images above shows a lady unhappy with the look of her old crowns as they looked dull and lifeless. They were made out of porcelain bonded to metal. Unknown to her we pointed out her gums were in very poor condition and the crowns were the source of inflammation. Note the dark red appearance to the gums just above her front crowns and she always had bleeding gums on brushing her teeth.

On removing the old crowns, lots of decay was found and her gums were in very poor condition. We replaced her crowns with beautiful all ceramics and this shows in a matter of 2 weeks her gum condition completely improved and are now healthy. Her smile was transformed, her gums stopped bleeding and her general health as a result was improved.

Case Three

The images above shows a lady who had very twisted teeth and did not want to have braces to move the teeth back. The teeth were straightened by using all ceramic crowns and she was ecstatic with the result.

Why should I have All-ceramic crowns?

Although metal crowns do still have their uses in the back of the mouth for durability, each all-ceramic crown is hand crafted by a dental technician to match the colour, shape and translucency of your other teeth for a natural looking restoration and a healthy, attractive smile that no-one may ever need to know you've had help with!

Why should I have a gold crown?

Gold can be used on back teeth where they will not be visible. Gold alloy crowns never fracture and provide the greatest long term strength. They will also require less sacrifice of tooth structure, so more tooth is retained. Gold is a less abrasive material and is as gentle to the opposing teeth as your natural ones.
